Grace Lutheran Preschool Education

Parents may enroll their four-year old child in our four-year old program if their child has reached the age of four prior to September 1. The four-year-old preschool children meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:50-10:20 a.m. The three-year-old preschool children meet Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Additional information is available upon request from the school office.

These early childhood classes are optional and exist to:

1. Provide an atmosphere in which children can grow spiritually and develop a stronger relationship with Jesus.
2. Provide opportunity for social, play-based experiences.
3. Provide exposure to other people and experiences which enhance maturation.
4. Provide experiences and activities as opportunities for physical development (coordination) and intellectual development (broadening horizons)

Before School Care Program

Grace Lutheran School provides a supervised classroom for students who need to be dropped off before 7:15 a.m. Parents who must be at work early, or who are dropping off siblings for the WLA bus may bring their Grace students to this classroom. The program is not for students who walk or ride their bikes to school. It is not for rural bus riders, unless their bus arrives very early.

After School Care Program

This program is designed to be self-sufficient; thus fees charged will cover the cost of salaries, snacks, supplies, etc. There is a one-time annual fee of $10 per child. The charges are $2 an hour for the first child in the family and $1.50 an hour for each additional child in the family. The program operates from 2:30-5:30 P.M. during (Full) school days. Fees are charged according to the number of hours spent in the program and are due the following week.

Grace Lutheran School Junior Choir

The Junior Choir is comprised of selected voices from students in grades 5-8. Tryouts are held each spring. From within the choir a smaller group is selected called The Celebration Choir. Rehearsals are held twice each week, one during the school schedule and the other after school.

The main purpose of both choirs is to sing the Lord’s praises in church services. Occasionally the choir performs for religious functions or civic events.

Grace Lutheran School Handbell Choirs

We have two handbell choirs from grades 4-8. (Piano lessons are a good background.) We meet twice a week, once during school and once after school. Attendance is required at rehearsals and performances. Warm up time is (30) minutes before a church service. We also ring at area WELS churches and at the WELS Handbell Festival. Children wear black and white.

Lutheran Elementary School (LES) Committee

Dear Fellow Christians:

Grace Lutheran School is an educational arm of Grace Lutheran Church. Its purpose is to aid parents in the obligation to bring up their children in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4) At Grace Lutheran School our children are taught by a professional staff of divinely called pastors and teachers who have been trained to provide a thorough, well-rounded, Christ-centered education. As we enter into another school year, it is hoped that the information in this handbook will help you to plan for the new term.

HOW CAN YOU AS A PARENT HELP YOUR CHILD?

1. By letting the Word of God be the guide in all phases of daily living.
2. By having regular family devotions and table prayers.
3. By praying for your school and staff.
4. By attending church regularly with your children.
5. By encouraging them to be considerate and courteous when riding the bus and on their way to and from school.
6. By encouraging them to respect their teachers.
7. By discouraging them from bringing distracting items to school.
8. By seeing to it that the children are regular and prompt in their attendance.
9. By refraining from being critical of the school in the presence of your children.

Kids For Christ

Are you looking for opportunities to spend quality time with your children and also enjoy fun, food, and fellowship? If you are, then our KIDS 4 CHRIST program is just for you.

Kids 4 Christ is open to all youth and parents from Grace Lutheran School and Church. Our program is staffed by a great group of volunteers who enjoy working with our families.

All children from our school and congregation, grades 1-7, are welcome to join us. Registration is held in September with a big Get Together in the gymnasium later in the month. Meetings are usually held once a month on a Thursday evening, 6:15-7:30 p.m. When we have special projects, we include a Supper Meeting from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Special activities such as roller skating, bowling, gymnastics, and pinewood car derby take place on the weekend. Our season ends with our annual KAMPOUT—usually the second weekend in June.

Our theme is CARE TO SHARE IN CHURCH, SCHOOL, AND COMMUNITY. Our events focus on those three areas with projects such as remembering our homebound members, grounds clean up, and participation in local parades and outreach events.

We try to keep you informed as much as possible through vehicles such as: school newsletter (look for the Kids 4 Christ section in the school newsletter), church bulletin, and our display across from the Multi-Purpose Room.

Join us as we strive to encourage volunteerism and fellowship through the wonderful service projects and fun outings that we sponsor, September through June. Whether enjoying free time in the gym, sending remembrances to our homebound members, or enjoying a meal together, this is an opportunity for us to let our lights shine brightly as we celebrate: HANDS TO WORK & HEARTS TO GOD!
